Editable High-Waist Culottes Pattern Block – PDF for Adobe Illustrator
Develop your own wide-leg designs with this editable high waist culottes pattern block, also known as a jupe culottes or palazzo culottes sloper. Designed for woven fabrics, it features a high waist, waistband and wide legs that combine skirt-like fullness with the practicality of trousers. All 10 sizes, XS–6XL, are included.
This is a digital pattern-development block. Seam allowances and step-by-step sewing instructions are not included. No physical pattern or finished garment will be shipped.
The A4, US Letter and A0 pattern PDFs are unlocked, editable in Adobe Illustrator and ready for printing. A separate, protected projector PDF is included for projection; it is not editable.
What Is an Editable Culottes Pattern Block?
A pattern block is a base template used to develop and adapt garment designs. This block includes front culottes, back culottes and waistband pieces, providing a starting point for your own culottes and wide-leg trouser designs.
In Adobe Illustrator, you can edit the pattern lines and curves, adjust proportions and add your own seam allowances and markings. Before cutting fabric, check the pattern measurements, adjoining seams and fit.
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, pattern preparation and garment construction is required for digital pattern development. You need to be able to construct the garment without a step-by-step sewing tutorial.

Editable Files and Projector File: What Is the Difference?
- A4, US Letter and A0 PDFs: unlocked pattern files that can be edited in Adobe Illustrator and printed.

The pattern pieces needed for digital customisation are included in the editable print PDFs. Use these files for design changes, rather than the protected projector PDF.
What Can You Edit in Adobe Illustrator?
- Edit pattern lines, curves and anchor points.
- Adjust the length and leg width.
- Change proportions and develop your own silhouette.
- Customise the waistband and other design details.
- Add seam allowances, labels, grain lines and notches.
- Rearrange the pattern pieces within the print layouts after making changes.
Design changes require pattern-making judgement. After editing, check adjoining seams, measurements, pattern scale and print layout. Changes may also affect fit and fabric requirements.
How to Use the Editable PDFs
- Download and save the files to your desktop computer or laptop.
- Open Adobe Illustrator on your PC or Mac.
- Select File → Open and choose an unlocked A4, US Letter or A0 pattern PDF.
- Open the relevant page or pages and locate the size you want to use.

Sizes and Fit
Included sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL.
Choose your size using the body measurements in the supplied Size Chart PDF or the size chart shown in the product images. Your usual ready-to-wear size may differ.
Make a toile or test garment to check the fit and any design adjustments before cutting your final fabric.
Suggested Fabrics
Choose lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics, such as crepe, viscose, linen, cotton, satin, chiffon or georgette.
Soft, draping fabrics create a flowing, skirt-like effect. Fabrics with more body create a more structured silhouette. Sheer fabrics may require a lining or separate underlayer.
This block is not designed for knitted or stretch fabrics.
Fabric Requirements
Refer to the fabric requirements shown in the product images and check your cutting layout using your selected size and fabric width.
Quantities are approximate. Recalculate the amount needed if you change the length, leg width or design, or choose fabric with a directional print.
Printing and Projection
Paper Printing
- Print at 100% / Actual Size. Do not select “Fit to Page”.
- Print and measure the test square before printing the complete pattern.
- Trim and assemble A4 or US Letter pages using the alignment marks.
- For copy shop printing, request A0 output at 100% scale.
- After editing, verify the scale and print layout again.
Projector Use
Use the supplied protected projector PDF with a calibrated sewing projector. Verify the scale before tracing or cutting, and add the required seam allowances before cutting fabric.
The supplied projector PDF is not editable. It does not automatically update when you make changes to the separate editable pattern PDFs.
