What is a bodice block?
A bodice block—also called a bodice sloper, torso block or basic pattern block—is a fitted base pattern used to develop original garment designs.
These blocks are not finished sewing patterns. They are professional starting templates that you can adjust, manipulate and transform into your own tops, blouses, dresses, shirts, tunics, vests and other woven garments.
You can use a block in its original form after adding seam allowances, or modify its neckline, darts, seams, length, fit and design details to create a new style.
Basic pattern-making and garment-construction knowledge is recommended.
