Editable Culottes Pattern Block Bundle – Basic & Flared

Develop your own wide-leg designs with this editable culottes pattern block bundle, combining two high-waist styles: Basic Jupe Culottes and Flared Palazzo Culottes. Both blocks are designed for woven fabrics and include all 10 sizes, XS–6XL.

Work with the basic wide-leg silhouette or the fuller, flared A-line shape. Open the supplied editable pattern PDFs in Adobe Illustrator to adjust pattern lines, proportions and design details.

This is a digital bundle of two pattern-development blocks. Seam allowances and step-by-step sewing instructions are not included. No physical patterns or finished garments will be shipped.

For both styles, the A4, US Letter and A0 pattern PDFs are editable in Adobe Illustrator and ready for printing. The separate, protected projector PDFs are not editable.

Which Pattern Blocks Are Included?

1. Basic High-Waist Jupe Culottes

A basic wide-leg culottes block with a high waist and waistband. It combines a skirt-like appearance with separate trouser legs, providing a starting point for your own culottes and wide-leg trouser designs.

2. Flared High-Waist Palazzo Culottes

A fuller culottes block with flared, A-line legs, a high waist and waistband. The additional flare creates a more pronounced skirt-like silhouette.

Both distinct pattern blocks are included in sizes XS–6XL.

What Is an Editable Pattern Block?

A pattern block, also called a sloper, is a base template used to develop and adapt garment designs. These two blocks already include their respective basic and flared culottes silhouettes.

The editable PDFs allow you to work with the pattern lines and shapes in Adobe Illustrator. You can develop your own designs, add seam allowances and markings, and prepare revised print layouts.

Adobe Illustrator knowledge, pattern-preparation skills and garment-construction experience are required for digital pattern development. You need to be able to construct the garment without a step-by-step sewing tutorial.

What You Receive

For each of the two styles, the bundle includes:

• Editable A4 pattern PDF: for digital editing in Adobe Illustrator and home printing on A4 paper.
• Editable US Letter pattern PDF: for digital editing in Adobe Illustrator and home printing on US Letter paper.
• Editable A0 pattern PDF: for digital editing in Adobe Illustrator and large-format copy shop printing.
• Projector PDF: a protected, non-editable file for use with a calibrated sewing projector.
• Size chart: for selecting your size using body measurements.

Each block includes its own front, back and waistband pattern pieces. A4 and US Letter pages require trimming and assembly.

The editable pattern files are supplied in PDF format and open in Adobe Illustrator. Adobe Illustrator software is not included. All files are in English.

Which Files Are Editable?

• A4, US Letter and A0 pattern PDFs: unlocked, editable in Adobe Illustrator and printable.
• Projector PDFs: protected files supplied for projection; not editable in Adobe Illustrator.

Use the unlocked print PDFs for digital design changes. All pattern pieces needed for editing are included in these files.

The supplied projector files do not automatically update when you modify the separate editable PDFs.

What Can You Edit in Adobe Illustrator?

• Edit pattern lines, curves and anchor points.
• Adjust the length and leg width.
• Change the flare and proportions.
• Customise the waistband and develop other design details.
• Add seam allowances, labels, grain lines and notches.
• Rearrange pattern pieces within the print layouts after making changes.

Design changes require pattern-making judgement. Check adjoining seams, measurements, fit, pattern scale and print layout after editing. Your changes may also affect fabric requirements.

How to Use the Editable PDFs

1. Download and save the files to your desktop computer or laptop.
2. Choose the Basic Culottes or Flared Palazzo Culottes block.
3. Open Adobe Illustrator on your PC or Mac.
4. Select File → Open and choose an unlocked A4, US Letter or A0 pattern PDF.
5. Open the relevant page or pages and locate the size you want to use.
6. Make your design adjustments and add seam allowances and pattern markings.
7. Check adjoining seams, measurements and scale.
8. Adjust the print layout as needed, save your edited version and print at 100% scale.

Adobe Illustrator is required for digital editing and is not included in this purchase. A PDF reader can be used to view and print the supplied print files, but it does not provide Illustrator’s tools for editing pattern lines and shapes.

Sizes and Fit

Both blocks include: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL and 6XL.

Choose your size using the body measurements in the size chart supplied with the relevant block. Your usual ready-to-wear size may differ.

Check the measurements and fit of each style separately. Make a toile or test garment before cutting your final fabric, especially after making design adjustments.

Suggested Fabrics

Both blocks are designed for lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics, such as crepe, viscose, linen, cotton, satin, chiffon or georgette.

Soft, draping fabrics create a flowing effect. Fabrics with more body produce a more structured shape. Sheer fabrics may require a lining or separate underlayer.

These blocks are not designed for knitted or stretch fabrics.

Fabric Requirements

Check the fabric requirements for your chosen block, size and fabric width. The basic and flared styles have different shapes and may require different fabric quantities.

Calculate your cutting layout before purchasing or cutting fabric. Recalculate the amount needed if you change the length, width, flare or design, or choose fabric with a directional print.

Printing and Projection

Home Printing: A4 or US Letter

• Select the file that matches your paper size.
• Print at 100% / Actual Size. Do not select “Fit to Page”.
• Print and measure the test square before printing the complete pattern.
• Trim and assemble the pages using the alignment marks.
• After editing, verify the pattern scale and print layout again.

Copy Shop Printing: A0

Request A0 printing at 100% scale. If you have edited the pattern, check that your revised layout fits the intended output format before sending it to the copy shop.

Projector Use

Use the supplied projector PDF for your chosen style with a calibrated sewing projector. Verify the scale before tracing or cutting.

The supplied projector PDFs are protected and not editable. They represent the supplied designs, not any changes you make to the separate editable PDFs.

Seam allowances must be added before cutting fabric.
