Editable High Waist Barrel Leg Pants Pattern Block

Develop your own trouser designs with this professionally drafted editable high waist barrel leg pants pattern block. Designed for woven fabrics, it features a waistband, fly front zipper closure, front and back pockets, and relaxed barrel-shaped legs that taper towards the ankle. Sizes XXS–6XL are included.

Open the unlocked A4, US Letter and A0 pattern PDFs in Adobe Illustrator to edit the pattern pieces, adjust proportions and add your own seam allowances and markings. These files are also ready for printing.

This is an editable pattern block (sloper). Seam allowances, cutting instructions and step-by-step sewing instructions are not included. Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, pattern preparation and garment construction is required.

Choose your size using the body measurements in the size chart shown in the product images, rather than your usual ready-to-wear size.

Make a toile (test garment) to check the fit and any design adjustments before cutting your final fabric.

• Editable A4 PDF: 34 pages, ready for home printing and digital editing in Adobe Illustrator.
• Editable US Letter PDF: 31 pages, ready for home printing and digital editing in Adobe Illustrator.
• Editable A0 PDF: 2 large-format sheets for copy shop printing and digital editing in Adobe Illustrator.
• Projector PDF: a protected file for use with a calibrated sewing projector. This file is not editable.
• Size Chart PDF.

The A4, US Letter and A0 pattern PDFs are unlocked, editable in Adobe Illustrator and ready for printing.

The A4 and US Letter files require trimming and assembly. The A0 file contains two sheets, rather than one continuous sheet. Depending on the pattern layout, the sheets may need to be joined.

How to Use the Editable PDFs

1. Download and save your files to your computer.
2. Open Adobe Illustrator on your PC or Mac.
3. Go to File → Open and select an editable A4, US Letter or A0 PDF.
4. Open the relevant page or pages and locate the size you want to work with.
5. Customise the pattern and add your own seam allowances and markings.
6. Check adjoining seams, measurements and scale.
7. Adjust the print layout as needed, save your edited version and print at 100% scale.

Adobe Illustrator is required for digital editing and is not included in this purchase. Adobe Acrobat Reader can be used to view and print the PDFs, but it does not provide Illustrator’s pattern-editing tools.

Use the unlocked A4, US Letter or A0 PDFs for editing. The protected projector PDF is intended for projection.

Suggested Fabrics

This block is designed for woven fabrics. Suggested options include:

• Cotton twill.
• Denim.
• Linen.
• Lightweight canvas.
• Poplin.
• Chambray.
• Viscose.

Firmer fabrics emphasise the curved barrel shape, while softer fabrics create a more fluid result. Test your chosen fabric when making a toile.

Not designed for knitted or highly stretchy fabrics.

Materials Required

• Main fabric: approximately 1.5–2 metres, depending on size and fabric width. Check the fabric requirements and your cutting layout before purchasing.
• Zipper suitable for the fly front.
• Suitable waistband fastening.
• Matching sewing thread.
• Interfacing as required for your chosen fabric and construction method.

Recalculate fabric requirements if you change the length, width or design.

Printing and Projection

• Print at 100% / Actual Size. Do not select “Fit to Page”.
• Measure the test square before printing the complete pattern.
• After editing, check that the pattern scale and print layout remain correct.
• For copy shop printing, request A0 output at 100% scale.
• Calibrate your projector and verify the scale before tracing or cutting.
